"The Friars" (Aylsford Priory)

Friends who enjoyed this long weekend at The Friars, Aylesford, Kent in the past will know that everyone attending will also be an active participant.
'Water' was this year's theme. We weren't short of tales, informative talks - even songs - about water in its various forms. Terry Page explained the unusual traits of water. Although we took an excursion to a lake, we didn't experience frost, rain or fog, and only looked at snowflakes in their wonderful forms, thanks to the photos presented by Sally Phillips.
A 'blind tasting' of water from five different sources provoked a lot of discussion. Home-filtered water from Terry's home water-tap received the highest score!
The participants themselves contributed various items to the programme, including games, word-exploration, music, a wall-mounted crossword for teams to tackle, a discussion on a bible text, and much more.
The final discussion concerned the future of the IAR event. Terry and Anica have organised it for many years, and have now stood down. We happily accepted a proposal for a new organiser, nevertheless much remains to be discussed. Space at The Friars has alrady been booked for an event in 2014, dependant on the result of that subsequent discussion.

Geamikoj kiuj antaŭe ĝuis tiun longan semajnfinon ĉe The Friars, Aylesford, Kent, scios ke ĉiu ĉeestanto estos ankaŭ aktiva partoprenanto.
'Akvo' estis la temo ĉijare. Ne mankis rakontoj, informoj - eĉ kantoj - pri akvo en diversaj formoj. Terry Page klarigis pri la anomaliaj ecoj de akvo. Kvankam ni ekskursis al lageto, ni ne spertis froston, pluvon aŭ nebulon kaj nur rigardis neĝerojn en siajn mirindaj formoj dank’ al fotoj de Sally Phillips.
Plene diskut-produkta estis ‘blinda gustumado’ de akvo el kvin malsamaj fontoj. La plej altajn poentojn rikoltis hejm-filtrita akvo el la ekrano de Terry.
La partoprenantoj mem kunportis diversajn erojn al la programo, inkluzive de ludoj, vort-esploro, muziko, surmura por-teama krucvortenigmo, diskuto pri biblia teksto kaj multo pli.
Fina diskuto temis pri estonteco de IAR. Terry kaj Anica organizis dum multaj jaroj kaj eksiĝis. Proponon de nova organizanto oni akceptis kun ĝojo, tamen multo diskutendas. Oni jam mendis ĉe The Friars denove en 2014, depende de la rezulto de posta diskutado.
