There is no duty (doganimposto) on books which originate from the UK and are sent to the EU. However, when goods from the UK arrive in the EU (and vice-versa), the customer may have to pay a customs declaration charge. These can be expensive: in some countries, they are as much as 20€. These customers will also need to pay VAT at their national rate before they receive the goods.
This doesn't happen all the time. We have taken receipt of goods from the EU and not had to pay any charges, just as you may occasionally buy something from the USA or China and not have to pay extra. However, if you're one of the unlucky ones who gets selected, your £5 copy of La Krubalo could become very expensive.
Books which don't originate in the UK are different: they will attract duty, plus the customs declaration charge and VAT. We show the publisher at the bottom of our entries. If the publisher is not from the UK, then the book is not considered to have originated here. Our non-book items will also attract these charges.
Oni ne devas pagi doganimposton pri libroj, kiuj origine devenas el Britujo kaj kiujn oni sendas al la EU. Pri libroj, kiuj ne origine devenas el Britujo (t.e., kies eldonisto troviĝas ekster Britujo), kaj ne-libroj (ekzemple KD-oj, ŝildoj) oni ja devos pagi doganimposton, plus, kiel antaŭe, eventualan dogan-deklar-koston kaj AVI.
