Clare and I originally came to Spain in 2014, when we met Jorge Camacho. We've stayed in touch and seen him a couple of times since in the UK. This time we're travelling through Portugal but returning home from Madrid, where Jorge and his wife Chen live, so we made him aware that we'd be around for a couple of days.
He gave us a two-hour tour of the national library, where he works, in Esperanto and then took us out for lunch:
Then in the evening he arranged a meet-up with some local Esperantists in a Lebanese restaurant:
The next day we visited Toledo but in the evening he invited us out for another meal with Chen, his wife:
Great fun! Advice on future places to visit, a guided tour, a couple of meals out, and all because we happen to speak Esperanto
