Markonkoj / Sea Shells

Markonkoj

Al la orelo
Ĉemetinte markonkon
Vi aŭdas la bruon de maro
Sed kiel scii,
Eble ankaŭ la maro
Per sia kalka orelo
Aŭdas en la minuto
Vian animon…

Sugesta voĉo
El suflorejo de l' konk'
Subdiros al vi,
Se vi iam forgesos,
Versojn de l' mar' senmorta.

En la markonko kantas la sireno…
Ŝi volas min, ŝi logas min, ŝi volas,
Ŝi volas min… transformi en moluskon.

Sea Shells

Putting a sea-shell
To your close-listening ear
You hear the noise of the ocean…
But how can you know
Whether it is the ocean
Through her helical ear of shell
Who is listening just then
To your soul…

A subtle voice
As from a prompt-box in the shell
Will whisper to you
— if you should ever forget them —
Epics of the undying sea.

Inside the sea-shell a siren is singing…
She wants me, entices me, and she wants,
She wants to… change me into a mollusc.
